An Evening with William Loren Katz
May 24 @ 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Join us for an evening with William Loren Katz

The man, his works and time: Teacher, Lecturer, Writer

The country was in the fray of virulent anti-Communist McCarthyism when William Loren Katz started teaching high school in 1955. “In American history…, African Americans were completely absent, or were portrayed as happy under slavery and bewildered by freedom. I began bootlegging material into the classroom…that revealed the role of black people in American history.”  His research challenged textbooks and especially his students’ prior knowledge.

Sponsored by: Enhanced Discussion – Ethical Action Committee – Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture

Care for the Soul
May 28 @ 10:00 am – 10:50 am
Care for the Soul @ Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture

Now more than ever we need to take time out to stop and reflect on our health both mind and body.
We will gather in a circle as a community to listen and speak from our hearts. We will also share a silent meditation together.
These are turbulent times. As we continue the many ways that we support our families, friends and communities, and our country, we also need to create mindful practices of self-care.
Remember to fill your cup in order to share your overflow for the good!
