Dependent Origination – Conducting Peace, the Singers’ Chart (Hybrid)

This platform explores the profound connection between the Buddhist concept of dependent origination and the transformative power of music, as seen through the perspective of a Jazz singer. This talk delves into how the interdependence of all things, is mirrored in the harmony and improvisation of music as well as how music can serve as a medium to create inner and outer peace, fostering a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of life and art.

Veronica Nunn, who currently serves as Co-Vice Chair on the Board of Brooklyn For Peace where she has been a member since 2004, is a celebrated vocalist-songwriter, has graced prestigious stages around the world alongside influential musicians, earning her the esteemed title of an authentic Jazz Diva, as recognized by Bravo Channel. Her unique musical style, a harmonious blend of genres evoking the spirit of iconic artists like Nina Simone, Roberta Flack, Abbey Lincoln, and Ella Fitzgerald, traces its origins to the guidance of George Walker, affectionately known as Big Nick Nicholas. Notably, Big Nick Nicholas played a pivotal role in mentoring the legendary John Coltrane, who paid tribute to him with the composition “Big Nick.” Veronica’s musical journey commenced in her hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas, at the tender age of 4, singing in the church choir, and school functions and participating in statewide musical events. At 19, she embarked on a transformative journey to New York City, where her deep love for music would take her on a worldwide adventure, encompassing recording, performances, music/vocal workshops, and the fulfillment of her mission to empower and unite people through the transcendent medium of art.
