It’s Been a Year

On Sunday March 14th, approximately one year after COVID arrived in New York City, BSEC will be holding a memorial service at our regular meeting time, to mourn our losses as a community and top honor them, as we move into a new world.

The pandemic has been hard on all of us. We have all experienced losses. This includes not only those who have died from COVID but also, among other things, losses tied to our inability to mourn together for those lost (not only to COVID but due to other causes), lost opportunities, loss of livelihoods and housing, lost sources of joy, fear and emotional insecurity, our inability to be with loved ones. The list is long and includes so much more. These losses are all real and should be acknowledged. The program will feature music from our own DuPree and Barry Kornhauser, as well as readings from members of the BSEC Writers Group.

Time allowing, there may be an opportunity to name the losses you have experienced, in a few sentences, or 1-2 minutes, losses of any type.
