What if knowledge could heal the wounds of displacement, conflicts and poverty, and restore dignity across Nations and generations? Maimouna BA invites us into a journey of sacred activism rooted in serving leadership, where learning becomes a path to peace in the Sahel (Africa). Through stories from Sahel and beyond, she weaves a vision of ethical living, collective renewal, and hope.
About the Speaker:
Maimouna BA is a peace activist and humanitarian leader, awarded the UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award in 2024 and the UN Youth Activists Summit Prize in 2023. She is passionately committed to transforming pain and adversity into dignity and strength for forcibly displaced women and children, as well as those from impoverished families in Burkina Faso and across Africa. A fierce defender of human rights, she has helped countless women regain financial autonomy, offering them the chance to rebuild their lives with pride and purpose. Through Fondation Maman Sahélienne, she stands as a powerful reminder of what compassion and action can achieve—even in the darkest moments; she embodies the light of hope and the possibility of change.
