A Caring Economy and Life Affirming Work

with Adria Powell and Bobbie Sackman.
This talk will be ASL interpreted.

Join us as part of International Women’s Month, as we host a discussion between Adria Powell, CEO of Cooperative Home Care Associates, and Bobbie Sackman, a lifelong advocate for community-based services for older adults to age in place. We will explore dynamics for the front-line workers we all come to rely upon, and see how we can make the industry responsive and effective for good work and public accountability. Learn about the Fair Pay for Home Care Campaign and how we can work to save the vital Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) in our state.

The service will be presided by Rebecca Lurie, with music by The Brooklyn Women’s Chorus.

Bobbie Sackman, a lifelong advocate for people with disabilities and the elderly and a well-known advocate for the importance of providing community-based senior services to diverse populations. Bobbie spent 10 years delivering direct services to the elderly, including a stint as Director of a senior center in Brooklyn, NY.

Adria PowellAs President and CEO of Cooperative Home Care Associates (CHCA), the largest employee-owned cooperative business in the country, Adria is responsible for the oversight of more than 2,000 home care workers and over 100 administrative staff. CHCA is a 32-year-old Licensed Home Care Service Agency (LHCSA), firmly anchored in the Bronx.
