Life and Death Discussion Group

When: 4th Thursdays, 6:30 pm–8:30 pm
Where: via Zoom, RSVP at the following link: life_and_death.eventbrite.com

We invite people from all backgrounds and ages to join us to talk about an often difficult subject. In so doing, we can lessen the fear and isolation that surrounds this inevitable event in everyone’s life.

Let’s create a safe place together where all ideas are welcome, all fears can be expressed, all hopes can be supported.

Notes from our April meeting

Participants in our April Life and Death Discussion group all lived in different boroughs of NYC and ranged in age from mid-twenties to mid-eighties.

We spoke, as always, of many different topics. They included the death of our pets, the need to divest ourselves of possessions to make things easier for our heirs, and, as always, our fear of dying. We discussed the stress of living through this tumultuous time and the importance of community.

We asked each other many questions, such as what is spirituality? What function does it serve? How does it affect us? How has our spirituality changed throughout our lives? Perhaps spirituality is that which we cannot explain, we said.

We also wondered about the power of prayer. Is there a God? we asked. If so, why does God allow evil in the world? And can we accept not knowing the answer to any of our questions?

At our next meeting, we will discuss these issues or any other thoughts participants bring up. Please join us!
