150 years ago Felix Adler dreamed up Ethical Culture in response to the real world conditions of the moment. In 1804, Haiti became the first Black Republic, becoming a beacon for liberation from slavery across the Americas. The question of its origin and its lessons provides some guidance for how we can look at our culture and the one we may need to build in order to expand what liberation means to us and future generations.
With live music by DuPree & Barry Kornhauser.
