POSITION OPEN: OFFICE MANAGER – BOOKKEEPER
18 hours per week

The Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture (BSEC), a 124-year-old religious and educational fellowship situated in Park Slope, is a community dedicated to promoting ethical relationships. It seeks to affirm each person’s inherent worth and dignity, elevate deed over creed, recognize each person’s ability and responsibility to help create a more humane world, while remaining free of dogma and welcoming of multicultural diversity that allows Ethical Culture to respond to its times. BSEC belongs to a federation of Ethical Culture and Ethical Humanist Societies and Fellowships in the U.S. known as the American Ethical Union (www.aeu.org). The office manager creates and maintains a pleasant and welcoming space, organizes and coordinates administration tasks, records financial transactions, updates the constituent database, runs the Pledge Campaign and maintains all records of the society. They provide the Board of Trustees/Administrative Director with financial reports, archives Meeting Minutes, maintains the Board Calendar and prepares the Annual General meeting packet.

Work Hours and Benefits:
Reports to the Personnel Committee of the Board of Trustees
W-2 – Part-time
Salary $30,000 pa.
18 hours per week, generous vacation policy, and some flexibility in hours, including limited
work from home.
Requirements:
Degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping Certificate or a minimum of 3 years related experience
Experience as an Office manager, or Administrator
Experience in developing internal systems

Proficiency QuickBooks, Excel and CRM (Salesforce or similar)
Experience in working with Non-Profit boards desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of Ethical Culture (or similar Humanist organizations)
Experience working with a Board of Directors and Committees
